Continuation Of: Who Was Oscar Fitz Nicholas?

Oscar was an active member of the Soldiers and Sailors monument in Cleveland, Ohio and a past President representing all the people from the Parma area who fought in the Civil War. His name is etched in stone in the Soldiers and Sailors monument.

Oscar, as a trusted Toll Collector was also a trustee of Parma Township in 1869 and became the Treasurer in 1872 and 1873.

Oscar is a shining example of the people of his time. Here we are, 107 years after this man's death. I believe that Parma Heights is a better place to live because of people like Oscar that live in this community.

The Historical Society had a great time conversing with people that visited the Parma Heights Toll House from 8/9/2014-8/10/2014 during the weekend in the Commons. We learned a lot from the people that have lived here many years and also newcomers that were interested the Parma Heights History. Thanks to Winifred Stroud, past President of the Historical Society, a lot of the Past History was preserved. We are a new group that started about six years ago. we plan on documenting the History of Parma Heights for future generations to enjoy as we do now. You are welcome to join us. For more information of our future meetings, call the President of the Parma Heights Historical Society, Joe Reeves, at 216-870-4864. We look forward to seeing you.
