Parma Police Arrest A Man In Connection With Fatal Shooting During Robbery Of A Local Gas Station

Parma Police have arrested a 21-year-old Cleveland man in connection with an armed robbery and fatal shooting that occurred last evening at the Sunoco gas station, located at 5385 Pearl Road in Parma.

On Saturday, November 28, 2015, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Parma Police responded to the Sunoco Gas Station for a report of shots fired inside the business. When officers arrived on the scene, they found the business owner deceased inside of the business. Officers learned that moments earlier the store was robbed at gun point by a male suspect who fled the scene before police arrived. Police learned that during the robbery, the male suspect and business owner exchanged gunfire. Witnesses provided a description of the male suspect and the car he was driving when he fled from the scene.

A Parma Police officer later spotted the car in the 5200 block of W. 46th Street in Parma. Police discovered that the robbery suspect was hiding inside of a house on the street. The Parma Police SWAT Team responded to the residence. The male suspect later surrendered to police without incident. The male suspect was found to have gunshot wounds and he was taken to Metro Hospital for treatment. His status is unknown at this time. 

The owner of the Sunoco was identified as 50-year-old Robert Sposit of Parma.

The male suspect’s identity will be released once he is released from the hospital and is criminally charged in connection with this incident.
