Parma Police Arrest Man For Bank Robbery

Parma Police arrested a Euclid man in connection with a bank robbery that occurred yesterday at the Third Federal Savings and Loan, located at 5950 Ridge Road in Parma.The man has been identified as the following individual: David Lee Chipps, W/M, 54 years-old, listing an address in the 100 block of Noble Beach Drive in Euclid. Chipps is currently being held at the Parma Police Detention Center and has been charged with one count of Robbery, a felony of the third degree. 

At approximately 2:00pm, Parma Police officers responded to the bank after receiving a report of a robbery. Employees told the police that a male, matching the description of David L. Chipps, entered the bank and approached a bank teller. Chipps was wearing a hat and sunglasses in order to disguise his face. Chipps demanded an undisclosed amount of cash. When the clerk did not immediately comply with his demands, Chipps became aggressive with the clerk who then handed over money to him. Chipps fled from the bank. No weapon was seen by the teller.

Parma Police officers searching the area located Chipps several blocks from the bank in the area of Dartworth Drive and Allanwood Drive. He was taken into custody. Officers recovered the money that was stolen from the bank.
