Art For The Fun Of It! Show. Saturday, September 17th, Parma Area Fine Arts Council hosted the Art For The Fun Of It! Student Show. This art show was held in the lobby of the Smallwood Center and featured the creative student work that was accomplished in the four pilot program free classes that were held this summer. The event was free and open to the public. Refreshments were served. Two classes were offered for seniors age 55+ in watercolor and colored pencil/oil pastels. The majority of these students had never taken art classes before. The results were amazing. Two classes offered to youth, ages 12 to 18, were in Super Hero Cartooning and hand built & wheel pottery. Some pottery students created as many as 12 pieces each. A local indie cartoon artist attended the event and remarked that the students had talent and their story lines were very creative. Funding for these classes was provided Cuyahoga Arts & Culture, Polish Village, and Proud of Parma. The Smallwood Activities Center and Parma Area Chamber of Commerce provided their facilities. Pottery & Clayworks Studio on Ridge Road provided their facility and expertise for the pottery classes.
