Tri-C Western Campus Student Leaders Earn Top Honors At Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society Convention

Students leaders with the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society chapter at the Western Campus of Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C) have been honored for their work with the international organization.

The honor society selected the student officers from Tri-C’s Chi Omega Chapter for a Distinguished Chapter Officer Team Award. The chapter at Western Campus in Parma was chosen based on its exceptional record of leadership, scholarship and service.

Chi Omega also received a Distinguished Chapter Award and was named one of the organization’s Top 100 chapters during NerdNation 2017, the honor society’s annual convention held April 6-8 in Nashville, Tennessee.

Chi Omega’s student officers are:

  • Christine Hopkins of Broadview Heights, president
  • Brittany Bosowski of Cleveland Heights, vice president of service
  • Matthew Eyerdam of Broadview Heights, vice president of membership
  • William Funk of Parma, vice president of scholarship
  • Bruce Hyde of Parma, vice president of fellowship
  • Marija Karic of Broadview Heights, vice president of leadership
  • James Chambers of Parma, treasurer
  • Tina Seifer of Berea, recording secretary

Two Chi Omega officers also earned individual honors. Hyde received the Distinguished Regional Officer Award for the Ohio Region, while Seifer was recognized for her work in the Honors Case Study Challenge.

Phi Theta Kappa also presented a Shirley B. Gordon Award of Distinction to Tri-C’s Michael Schoop, president of the Metropolitan Campus in Cleveland. The award recognizes administrators who give outstanding efforts promoting the goals of the organization.

The Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society is the largest honor society in higher education, with nearly 1,300 chapters on college campuses across the United States and other parts of the world. More than 3 million students have been inducted since its founding in 1918.
