Looking forward

Plans are in the making this month, MyCom partners will come together January 23rd at the Parma Collaborative meeting to discuss goals and steps that need to be taken to achieve the goals.

We will be working on creating a community mapping system where youth and families can locate youth programming and events in their area. The MyCom coordinator is planning on bringing three youth from the PACT program that will attend the MyCom Advocacy Day in March, located at the Statehouse in Columbus Ohio. She has the youth attending a training this month at the Parma Snow Library to prepare them for the event. This opportunity will let the youth meet state elected officials, hear from influential decision makers and advocate for the policies and programs that mean the most to them. She will also coordinate field trips with PCSD high school students to attend the Drug: Cost and Consequences exhibit located at the Parma Snow Library. The exhibit opens January 15th and closes June 21st, it is free to the public!

Qadriyyah Sultan

Qadriyyah Sultan recently joined the Cuyahoga County Public Library as the Parma/Parma Heights MyCom Coordinator. As the Coordinator, she will be networking with local organizations, schools, community partners and youth groups to help facilitate communication amongst all of the wonderful resources that our area has to offer. MyCom’s objective is to expose our youth to a variety of activities and connect them to a network of caring and committed adults. Qadriyyah will be out in the community meeting with existing organizations to learn what services they offer, how they can be communicated to our youth and their families, and collecting feedback outlining gaps in service that the community would like to see. She will also be reorganizing the partner meetings and working to organize and support the youth council. She will be a wonderful resource for youth and families in the Parma and Parma Heights communities. If there is information that you would like her to share with the community and with MyCom partners, please reach out to her at 216-749-7413 or by email at qsultan@cuyahogalibrary.org.
