Citizen Of The Month Recipient Shares His Love Of Sports With Athletes

Kevin Leigh's large crowd of admirers included his mailman and a priest from St. Charles, where Leigh is the athletic director and a parish member.

On behalf of Parma City Council, Ward 7 Councilwoman Kammy Shuman presented Parma resident, athlete and coach Kevin Leigh with the June Citizen of the Month Award. Recreation Department Director Mickey Vittardi nominated Leigh, who resides at 8623 Scarlet Oak Lane.

A retired pharmaceutical sales representative, he has worked as the St. Charles Borromeo Church athletic director for 47 years and coached track and field for 56 years. A member of the St. Charles Athletic Hall of Fame, his love for sports has included coaching basketball, football and cross country.

A dedicated St. Charles parishioner, he has served as the parish’s carnival chairperson for more than 25 years. Presently, he is the president of the St. Charles Golf League and volunteers for the Ridgewood Golf Course Youth/Junior Program.

For 60 years, Leigh has lived in Parma. He and his wife, Paula, have been married for 52 years and raised six children together. They are now proud grandparents of eight grandchildren.
