WORLD-FAMOUS STATUE COMING TO THE DIOCESE OF CLEVELAND
Local ministry has organized a 14-day visit throughout the 8 counties of the Diocese
CLEVELAND, OHIO—The world-famous International Pilgrim Virgin statue of Our Lady of Fatima is enroute to the Diocese of Cleveland. On July 7th the statue will arrive at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist for the opening of a 2-week tour of the 8 counties of the Diocese.
Locally, the 14-day visit will conclude at Holy Family Parish in Parma. The parish has planned a day filled with devotions to celebrate the arrival of the Statue as well as the closing of the Eucharistic Congress in Indianapolis which coincides with this event.
Veneration of this Pilgrim Statue is not just approved by the Church but encouraged. “Our ministry’s mission is to bring souls to Jesus through His Mother Mary, and one of the ways we accomplish that is by promoting devotions such as Marian processions, the traveling Pilgrim Virgin, and so much more,” said Rosemary Reed, president of Our Mother’s Hands ministry, organizers of this tour. “We first reached out to the World Apostolate/Our Lady’s Blue Army, about 4 or 5 years ago, and began planning this visit in earnest in October of 2023.”
The International Pilgrim Virgin Statue, which was carved in 1947 by Jose Thedim, the same sculptor who carved the statue behind the glass in the Cova at Fatima, Portugal, was based on the direct instruction of (now Servant of God) Sister Lucia, one of the three shepherd children to whom Our Lady appeared between May and October of 1917.
“When our ministry was selected to organize this tour, we learned so much about this beautiful image of Our Lady,” Reed continued. “There are numerous differences between this statue and the one in Fatima, and that is because this one had the input of an adult Sr. Lucia. With that we realized what you see when you look upon this International Statue is a truer representation of how Our Lady appeared to the children 107 years ago.”
“If you cannot make the pilgrimage to Fatima, Our Lady is coming to you and we are so excited to share this opportunity with the faithful of our Diocese,” she added. “Now more than ever we need the message of Fatima, one of hope, peace, and salvation.”

St. Sava Cathedral Annual Serb Fest
12:00 PM - 11:00 PM
Taste, Experience, Discover: St. Sava Serbian Festival
For more than 40 years, right here in our own backyard lives a beautiful Serbian community at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Cathedral on Broadview Rd. On July 20-21, it will hold its Serbian Festival, which has served as an annual celebration of Serbian and eastern European heritage.
The church invites all to discover the heart of Serbia and experience the rich culture, traditions, and tastes of the old world. A wide variety of traditional Serbian foods and ethnic fare – including spit-roasted lamb and pig, ćevaps, sarma, gibanica, Serbian beer, and much more – will be available. Additionally, authentic Serbian and European desserts will be available including our most popular items, “krofne,” (round, airy, Serbian donuts) and “palacinka” (crepes).
The event will also include free tours of the cathedral, which is adorned with beautiful frescoes from the walls to the top of the church’s dome. The fresco project, which was completed by the School of Iconography and Preservation in Belgrade, took nearly seven years to complete. For those who love and appreciate art and iconography, it’s an opportunity you don’t want to miss.
The festival will also have various Serbian and religious items for sale and a bounce house for children. An area will be dedicated to showcasing the art of preparing Serbian coffee, which is known to rival any Starbucks espresso. Stop by the booth to try one for yourself.
A live Serbian band will be playing under the big tent all weekend and on Saturday night, the children and young adults from St. Sava will perform Serbian dances from various regions in Serbia. We also invite you to join the “kolo” circle and learn a few dance steps yourself!
Admission and parking is FREE and the festival will be held rain or shine!
