Parma Observer Is 12 Years Old

The number 12 has always had significant meaning throughout human history. 12 makes a dozen, 12 inches in a foot, 12 months in a year, 12 apostles, and so on. The fact that I have been publishing the Parma Observer for 12 years now is also very significant to me. I am inspired to think back to that first issue in October of 2009 and remember how different times were then compared to the present day. The Great Recession was in full swing when we started publishing in October 2009. Who knew that in the next 12 years, we would have a whole lot of ups, and a bunch of downs, and all throughout some really momentous times.

Here we are in 2021, still printing stories from volunteer hyper-local journalists. We've lost some tremendously good people during that time, but we always seem to have new friends emerge and contribute to the rich tapestry that is life here amidst the 7th largest city in Ohio. We are prepared to experience some notable changes coming to our community, as is always inevitable. Hopefully, with pragmatic choices and steady leadership, these changes will be for the better, and make our Tri-City Area stronger, more resilient and suited to embrace the third decade of the 21st Century. I need to thank each and every person who has in any way contributed to the success of the Parma Observer since 2009 in our mission to preserve and encourage civic discourse and progress. Ever forward.
