Spend Your Holiday Dollars Right At Home

Finding the perfect holiday gift for a loved one can be a challenge. But putting in the effort is worth it when you see a child, sibling, friend or parent tear off the ribbons and bows, and peel back the wrapping paper, only to be delighted at what’s concealed inside. But as you map out your holiday shopping plans, make sure to include the locally owned stores on the Main Street (and perhaps some side streets too) of your community. That’s where you can find gifts that will likely surpass anything on the wish lists in your hands.

Shopping Local means connecting with a person who chose the products themselves and lovingly displays them for their customers. It is about seeing and hearing what makes the shop unique and learning about the history of their lives, their family. Sure, shopping online is buying, shopping local is an experience!!  Local retailers deck the halls and stock their shelves with carefully selected items chosen with their customers in mind and stand by to help us find a present for even the trickiest or Grinchiest person.

Small Business Saturday is November 25, a day set aside to support small, local businesses and the very important role they play in the community. Launched by American Express in 2010, Small Business Saturday has grown into a big opportunity for retailers. In 2022 Small Business Saturday spending was about 17.9 billion. This year? Who knows?  And 2ND Fridays Parma Heights will host the Annual Jingle & Mingle along Pearl road on Friday December 8. Find unique gifts for everyone on your list during holiday open houses as you shop and stroll the sidewalks to view the beautifully decorated windows, smell the fresh greenery and enjoy the sparkle of holiday lights.

The Christmas shopping season is important to all businesses.Just a few weeks can mean the difference between profit and loss. Many local stores in Parma Heights have created special promotions and discounts that will be available to those who shop locally during the Small Business Saturday event. And some will be hosting a giveaway or raffle with every purchase, offering the chance to win a free gift, prize, or service. Small businesses close to our hearts and our homes need and and deserve to receive support from us. Buy from your locally owned shops this Christmas!
