UH Parma Pumpkin-Decorating Contest Captures The Spirit Of The Season – And The Team
University Hospitals Parma Medical Center is known for warm and welcoming atmosphere, a medical center built on clinical excellence while maintaining a community feel. The pumpkin decorating content is a festive example of this spirited environment.
Colorfully and creatively decorated pumpkins from 28 departments fill the main lobby of the hospital at 7007 Powers Blvd. Patients, visitors and caregivers alike place their votes for their top three favorites. Themes range from Barbie and Betty Boop (UH Seidman Cancer Center – Kickin’ cancer radiantly!) to ET and other movie characters. Pink flamingoes abound, as well as the many Jimmy Buffett fans in the house, because we all know “It’s five o’clock somewhere.” And several teams paid tribute to the recent transition to the Epic electronic medical record, which has been a major focus for caregivers.
“We have had a lot going on lately, with our Epic changes, and still coming out from three long COVID years, but despite it all, our caregivers still know how to have fun,” says Patient Experience Manager Kim Tomblin. “We also know how much visitors and patients enjoy taking part in competitions like this. The talent of our staff leaves us in awe in more ways than one!
“We realize a hospital is not the most fun place to be, so it shows how special our staff are that they take the time to make it a more spirited place.”
