April Fool’s? Nope, No Joke!
The We Are Parma Proud non-profit volunteers, received the Citizens of the Month Award at the April 1st Parma council meeting. Ward 2 Councilwoman Debbie Lime and Mayor Tim DeGeeter presented the group with certificates recognizing their work promoting the city by creating events that instill community pride. It’s mission is to bring together businesses, government, non-profit groups, and individuals for the purpose of strengthening and promoting pride within Parma, with fresh ideas, enhanced projects and community events.
Since it’s inception in 2019, they’ve brought to the community annual events such as Frosty’s Fest, the Christmas Parade, Independence Day Parade, and Picnic in the Park, that have attracted thousands of residents. Smaller projects too, such as Trash Crawls to clean up the city, the latest was on Earth Day Saturday, April 20th. Fireworks are back too, thanks to them, brought to you through donations solicited for your enjoyment during the annual Rib & Rock. The Parma Visitor’s Guide was another project. Their next major undertaking will be a year-long celebration of the city’s 200th anniversary in 2025. Lots of fun things are in the planning stages. Look too, for the commemorative Parma Visitors Guide next year.
