National Cemeteries in The United States

There are 147 National Cemeteries in the United States, with Arlington being the most popular. The closest to us is The Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, located in Rittman, about 46 miles from Cleveland. Most Veterans who have been Discharged from active duty Military service under other than dishonorable conditions are entitled to burial in a National Cemetery. There are time restrictions for enlisted personnel who began their service after September 7, 1980, and Officer personnel entered service after September 17, 1981, They must have completed 24 months of continuous or the full period for which called to active duty, whichever is shorter. It is best to contact the Cemetery for exacting details.

Memorial Day is on Monday May 27, 2024. It is very important to the memory of men and women that died as a result of their Service to the United States that we will always remember them. Stop and think where we would be and what would our Country look like if it were not for these men and women that paid the ultimate price for our Freedom. There is a quote that I saw a few years ago on the internet, The title is called QUESTIONS. A stranger in passing once asked, "Was it worth losing your friends and coming home a cripple?" At that moment I could only answer back with a QUESTION. "Is it worth loosing the Freedom you now have in order to take away my pain?"
