4-H Student Makes & Donates Lending Library
Parma South Presbyterian Church (6155 Pearl Road, Parma Heights, OH) is proud to announce the unveiling of a new lending library, created by 11-year-old Penelope Yeager of Lakewood. Penelope, is a member of the Homestead Hoofers Cuyahoga County 4-H Club at Stearns Homestead, built the colorful library as a service project for her woodworking 4-H project. The lending library was unveiled in a special ceremony on Sunday, June 23rd at 6:30 pm at the church. In addition to the lending library, Penelope was also able to secure a donation of a "blessing box" for non-perishable food items for the church. Penelope worked alongside her grandfather and woodworker, Kim Yeager of Cleveland, to create the lending library. The project exemplifies the spirit of 4-H, which focuses on developing leadership, citizenship, and life skills in young people. It was a lovely opportunity to learn to use the tools of the woodworking trade. Penelope said, “Building the lending library was a lot of fun, but it was also challenging. I learned so much about woodworking and project planning from my grandpa. I'm really happy that I could use my skills to give back to church and the community. I hope people will enjoy using the lending library and that the blessing box helps those in need. The church’s Clerk of Session praised the effort by saying, “The lending library and blessing box are creative ways to ‘Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.’ (Matthew 5:42) . Parma-South Presbyterian Church is grateful to Penelope and the Homestead Hoofers for their thoughtful initiative to serve our local community and thankful for their kind spirit
