Protect Parma Flamingos
Parma residents have exhaled a collective sigh of relief after the botched abduction attempt of the knobby kneed flamingo. Prior to the shocking event, our beaky friend had resided at Anthony Zielinski park There beside the Parma Script sign that bird added just the right amount of pink and well, decorum for all wanting a snapshot. Residents became angry at the harm that was inflicted upon the flamingo. The community and the city police department joined forces to apprehend those responsible while the
beaky best Parma has to offer laid injured unable to stand. Yet the flamingos are not the only ones hit hard.
While we can bird watch and enjoy glimpses of birds at the nearby Metroparks we no longer have an abundance of birds within our neighborhoods. Sadly, Parma the seventh largest city in Ohio has continued backwards. Officials distance themselves from the desires residents hold for their hometown.
Our group has sought a meeting simply to share our concerns about tree loss for more than 2 years yet Mayor Degeeter has ignored every request. There has been a nationwide effort taking place to increase the number of trees .Yet this local government continues to cut down healthy trees throughout our neighborhoods, parks and along roadways.
We must protect Parma Flamingos! Save our habitat. Halt the removal of Parma trees.Homeowners are beset by flooding. Local leaders need to value each and every tree and appreciate all that trees do to slow storm surge. It is unconscionable the harm that has befallen this city.
When world events are filled with tragedy and conflict that is just the moment we need a bit of hometown fun. The zaniness of Parma flamingos force us to smile and forget even for a moment our heavier burdens. Together as a community we have strength. Our collective voices will be heard when we unite. Protect Parma Flamingos by joining our group on Nextdoor or Facebook “Trees for a Greener Parma” .To demonstrate your support please indulge in pink by placing pink ribbons on your tree if you are lucky enough to have one or pink colored paper in your front windows or hey! pink flamingos near the front your home. Let’s send the message that we demand better.
