City of Parma Heights Works Together To Rally Back From The Tornado
The residents of Parma Heights will remember for years to come where they were on Tuesday, August 6 around 4pm. As the notifications came in, the weather turned quickly and the tornado touched down in the City of Parma Heights and surrounding areas.
I would like to take this time to again thank the City of Parma Heights Service Department for helping to clear down trees and branches, the Police Department for rerouting and directing traffic and the Fire Department for assisting with seniors who needed oxygen refills and other assistance.
The staff at City Hall helped answer hundreds of phone calls from residents and posted updates on social media. Our Parma Heights Senior Center staff went above and beyond to help with seniors by grilling hot dogs, providing food for the homebound and even using the senior bus as a charging station.
Special thanks to our neighboring cities and Mayor Biasiotta of Seven Hills and Mayor DeGeeter of Parma for their support, Parma City School District for opening Valley Forge High School as a charging station and Cuyahoga County Emergency Management team for helping provide a generator for the Parma Heights Senior Center.
I also want to offer special thanks to the many local businesses that reached out to support and serve our community and the residents for their patience and understanding. The storm caused widespread damage, and the teams have worked non-stop to get the city back to normal. I’m thankful that the city was able to rally together during the tough days created by the tornado. Thanks again for all of your support!
