City Of Parma Heights Welcomes New Police Chief

At the Parma Heights City Council meeting on Monday, March 10, Mayor Gallo proudly swore-in the City’s new Police Chief Steven Greene.

Chief Greene has over 34 years’ experience with the Parma Heights Police Department, including progressive leadership experience and expertise in personnel and project management. “Chief Greene’s track record and experience speaks for itself. I look forward to working with Chief and the entire Parma Heights Police Department as we continue to provide the best law enforcement to the residents,” said Mayor Gallo.

A graduate of Kent State University with a degree in Criminal Justice Studies, Chief Greene also attended the Ohio State Highway Patrol Basic Peace Officer Academy. He brings a wealth of knowledge to his new role including in community relations, experience in serving as a Tactical Operator with the Southwest Enforcement Bureau, and member of the Parma Heights Police Department’s Traffic and Bicycle Patrol Units. Over the years, he revised the Department’s Field Training and Evaluation process, and has mentored new officers, many of whom became future leaders in the Department.

Chief Greene authored the Departmental evaluation policy and was a founding member of the PACT community policing unit focused on community engagement. In addition, he managed the City jail, Department Policies and Procedures, Police Vehicle Procurement and Maintenance, Communications Dispatch supervisor and computer system management. He has served as chair of the Communications Committee of the Cuyahoga County Emergency Services Advisory Board and Chair of the Cuyahoga County Technical Advisory Committee. As a Detective he investigated countless crimes resulting in numerous successful prosecutions.
