Spring To Bring New Flowers And New Projects To Seven Hills

We finalized some major projects last year that will define and serve our community for generations to come. To name a handful; the Hemlock Creek Restoration Project, a new  7,592-square-foot, climate-controlled service vehicle storage garage, the Lodge at North Park and our Splash Pad at Calvin. Now as we head to into Spring 2025 I would like to share some of the exciting things we have planned.

2025 road resurfacing

In 2018 we conducted as engineering study that rated all our streets by pavement conditions. Our goal was to resurface any city street with 6 or lower rating (10 being the best). That goal was accomplished. In 2023 conducted new engineering ratings. We will once again set the same goal of resurfacing any street rated 6 or lower. This program will take 4-6 years to complete.

This years’ streets will be Maureen, Kuenzer, Darrow, Ridgeview and Panorama. Estimated construction cost is approximately $1.5 million. Our new engineer firm Osborn Engineering (OE) will provide Civil, Transportation, Surveying and Geotechnical engineering consulting, construction drawings and specifications for the above referenced streets for $125,000.

Zoning updates

Over the course of the last 2 years, council, planning and consultant (Jay Stewart Land use) reviewed and benchmarked all our zoning codes. Most of the proposed amendments to our code seek to promote one, or more, of the following high-level goals of: increased safety, aesthetic upgrades, promoting long term sustainable buildings and structures and providing a more legally defensible zoning code. Other code changes included streamlining current City processes and modernizing current code text and zoning concepts currently not provided in the current zoning code. Much of the code appears to have not been updated in over 4 decades. Therefore, I believe this type of deep dive was necessary and believe those utilizing the code will find a more modern and fair code to apply to their Seven Hills investments.

Save the Dates

We have many fun community events planned for you; the Easter Egg Hunt on April 12th, our Memorial Day Parade May 26th, Home Days July 18th -20th, Art show September 27th, Fall Fest October 4th and our annual Christmas Adventure on December 6th. In addition, remember our Farmers Market held every Thursday July 12- September 25 4-7pm. Last but not least is our popular summer concert series June 13th, June 27, July 11, August 8th and August 22nd.

For specific information on these events and much more, follow our official social media and sign up for updates by visiting  our website www.sevenhillsohio.org .

I believe 2025 will be another active year for our city. Seven Hills has been able to carry out much by carefully monitoring expenses and focusing on community in a way that is respectful, reflective, and effective.

Wrapping up I will share this quote from Vince Lombardi that nicely sums up our approach “Individual commitment to a group effort-that is what makes a teamwork, a company work, a society work, a civilization work.”
