From Books To Brushstrokes And Great Services Galore: Discover The Parma-Powers Branch Library

First Bite of Summer, by Joanna Ellis. Featured in the Parma-Powers Branch Spring Art Show

The Parma-Powers Branch of the Cuyahoga County Public Library celebrates literacy, art, wellness and wonder, with high-quality programming, valuable information resources, help obtaining critical social services, comfortable spaces to study or hold a meeting, and access to a wide variety of literature and media ranging from brand new to classic.

Check out the Parma-Powers Branch gallery wall space, where you can view the fresh and vibrant work of Cleveland-based artists on your way to peruse the shelves. The Spring art show, "The Beauty and Humor of Everyday Life," features the photography of Katsiaryna Lapyhina, quilt portraits by Joanna Ellis, and wood sculpture by Gary Nass. It invites us to reflect on how interpretations of meaning shift as artists work across different mediums, and what threads connect our diverse and unique perspectives.

In a space where books and media are made available for public use, art becomes another form of storytelling—one that complements the written word by offering visual narratives with deep emotional resonance. In a community space where access to vital social services is provided, a gallery becomes more than a place to view art; it becomes a place of connection, reflection, and care.

Libraries are spaces where learning and equity are shared community values. By embracing art, these spaces continue to reinvent themselves as centers of creativity, healing, and community dialogue, reminding us that beauty and humor are not luxuries, but essential parts of our collective life experience.

The Parma-Powers Branch also invites you to check out one of their great library programs! They’re always free of charge.
