Last Hurrah For Prama Artspace & Gallery!

It’s with great sadness that I’m reporting the closing of Prama Artspace & Gallery, located at 5411 Pearl Road. Prama was the first independent art gallery located in the City of Parma. It opened in the fall of 2018 as a platform to showcase local talented individuals. It was owner/operator, Sean Mabin’s, life dream to bring the vibrancy of the art scene to the City of Parma. Being a Parma High School grad, and knowing many artists that live in Parma or within the surrounding area he felt Parma should have their own indie gallery, close to home. He chose the gallery location in close proximity to Polish Village’s great restaurants, shops and pubs, making it a great “date night” destination.  Indie galleries, like Prama, bring visitors from all over Greater Cleveland to the city. Who than explore the neighborhood, shopping the mom and pop shops, stopping for coffee or drinks at a local pub, or for something good to eat.

The Last Prama Picture Show, is the title of this final exhibit.  Opening reception is May 17 from 6 to 10pm. Refreshments on opening night along with the musical sounds of live entertainment by Duo Decibel starting about 8pm. The exhibition will feature an eclectic mix of numerous local artists working in various mediums.

Over the last seven and a half years Prama’s monthly exhibitions have hosted a wide and diverse range of talented area contemporary artists. The exhibitions held the work of both known and as yet undiscovered artists. Prama gave many of those unknown artists the opportunity for their first gallery showing. It also featured multiple well known artists. The gallery also had a small boutique filled with various unique handmade items at a low cost. It also offered mini-workshops. In addition to the visual aspect the gallery brought to the area, show openings also had refreshments and entertainment such as live music, poetry readings and special events. As an example, there was collaborative events with Cleveland Photo Fest. In 2023 the Collective Arts Network Journal launch party was held at Prama. Most popular were the Halloween themed shows, such as the macabre Ghost Opera in 2020, and Images of Haunted Ohio.  As well as the photography exhibit titled Summer of Protest in 2021.

Stop in and see what you’ve been missing at Prama Artspace Gallery, 5411 Pearl Road.
