Parma Heights 158th Annual Memorial Day Ceremony
On Monday, May 26, 2025 the Parma Heights Memorial Day service will take place on the front lawn of the Parma-South Presbyterian Church at 6155 Pearl Road. 2025 marks the 158th consecutive year of the Parma Heights Memorial Day commemoration. The Parma Heights service is the oldest continuous in the state of Ohio.
The day’s events will begin with a service at the church will begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by the annual Memorial Day Parade and culminating in a brief wreath-laying ceremony at Parma Heights Cemetery, also on Pearl Road, scheduled to begin at about 10:45 a.m.
The Memorial Day ceremonies will include remarks at the Parma-South Presbyterian Church by: Mayor Marie Gallo, Rev. Christin Moreland from Parma-South Presbyterian Church, WJW-TV 8 Reporter/Anchor Suzanne Stratford, a veteran of the Persian Gulf war, Parma Heights Firefighter/Paramedic Michael Zevchek, American Legion Post #703 Commander Dan Easa. Musical selections will be provided by the Valley Forge Marching Band under the direction of Mr. Evan Campus and members of Boy Scout Troop #263. For those planning to attend the service at Parma-South Presbyterian church, please bring chairs to sit on.
The Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery service will include the wreath laying ceremony. Over 50 veterans are buried in the Parma Heights cemetery ranging from The Revolutionary War to the Vietnam War.
Memorial Day is a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation’s service. The continuation of the Memorial Day ceremonies is a staple for the City of Parma Heights and its residents.
