Color Your Summer With Reading, Art, And Community Fun At Parma-Powers Library!

Look to your local library for great summer fun! The Parma-Powers Branch welcomes you to join in on the Cuyahoga County Public Library’s “Color Our World” Summer Reading Challenge! You can track your reading or attend awesome summer programs for a chance to win great prizes! Sign up today at CCPLSummerReading.org or swing by your local branch to get started! The Summer Reading Challenge begins on Monday, June 2 and runs through Thursday, July 31.

As fate would have it, right in line with the “Color Our World” theme, Parma Area Arts has just released the Parma Coloring & Activity Book, which features pages drawn by local artists for artists of every age and skill level. In partnership with the Parma-Powers Branch and the City of Parma Recreation Department, Parma Area Arts will also be featuring a Coloring Contest, which runs from June 29 through July 18. Entry sheets for each of the 3 contest groups, Youth, Teen, and Adult artists, can be picked up and submitted at the Parma-Powers Branch (6996 Powers Blvd) or the City of Parma Recreation Department office (7335 Ridge Rd). For information about purchasing a Parma Coloring & Activity Book, contact Parma Area Arts at (216) 618-0956 or info@parmafinearts.org.

Also in keeping with this year’s “Color Our World” Summer Reading Challenge theme, the Parma-Powers Branch Summer 2025 gallery show “Living Lines” encourages us to explore the ways that lines, color, and culture flow together and form our beautiful world. Our identities are assemblages of the living pieces of ourselves, some of which are the things we share and hold in common that ground and keep us together, and some the unfamiliar and unique perspectives, personalities, and encounters that enrich and nurture us. This summer, Cleveland area artists, Kelly Pontoni, Jon Sedor, Alex Elerian, and Drew Degur offer us work that demonstrates how the stories of our lives can be told through poignant images inspired by the experiences that shape who we are.

The Parma-Powers Branch also invites you to check out one of their great library programs! They’re always free of charge.
