The Best Advice I Can Give About Being A Father

Show up.

Not just when it’s easy—

not just for the games,

the graduations, the photo ops.

Show up when they fail.

Show up when they’re silent.

Show up when you’re tired

and the world feels heavier than home.

Being a good father isn’t about having all the answers.

It’s about being the one they trust to ask the questions.

Your job isn’t to make them like you.

It’s to raise them to be better than you.

Teach them that strength isn’t loud.

That kindness doesn’t make you soft.

That love—real love—shows up in small, daily, unglamorous ways:

packing a lunch, staying calm when you want to rage,

admitting when you’re wrong,

and praying for them when they don’t even know you are.

Don’t outsource your values.

Don’t let the world raise your kids

while you chase things that won’t matter in the end.

Be the man you want them to become.

Live it out loud—flawed, human, faithful.

Let them see you serve, cry, forgive,

and get back up when life tries to break you.

Let them know they are loved—

not for what they do,

but for who they are.

Because one day they’ll tell the story

of what kind of father raised them.

Write a story worth retelling.
